Jackson is currently a director on the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union board and the manager of community facilities and activities at the Masterton District Council.
She is set to begin her tenure in March and replaces Shannon Paku who is finishing after three years in the role.
Jackson is a passionate rugby person who has represented Wairarapa Bush as player, but she also brings a proven track record of success as an executive leader to the Manawatū Rugby Union.
Manawatū Rugby Union chairman Tim Myers said Jackson possesses an excellent balance between a passion for the game and a deep level of leadership and people management experience.
“These are traits that the Board identified as priorities and we [are] very happy that we’ve been able to find a person of Andrea’s calibre.”
Jackson has always aspired to take on this sort of challenge and she’s excited to be afforded the opportunity.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting our stakeholders and equally I am under no illusions. Rugby faces a number of challenges that I believe can quickly become exciting opportunities, but there is work ahead.”
Jackson will relocate permanently to the Manawatū for the role.
